As the 80’s hit, people were opting for more square footage; however, the McMansion trend is quickly coming to an end and the 50’s ranches are BACK in a big way. Ranch homes are in high demand and ready to be updated. The scope of work included all new windows, doors, painting, lighting and new or restored flooring. Once we get this done, the exterior will be pretty much done. Hi Kathleen – You are right, the brick exterior is classic, so just not their taste. The inside though, that I didn’t show was very dated. Soon after moving in, they designed a barn and chicken house and had both built to the side of the backyard so they would not block the view. This large stone fireplace creates a focal point on the side of the home, anchoring it to the patio.
This restaurant got a much-needed modern rustic exterior makeover. The natural wood paneling in the entryway contrasts with the modern metallic accents and cool color palette. Cottage-like in its coziness, this ranch-style home includes a number of details, including shutters, columns, and a small portico, to create visual variety. Multiple volumes and setbacks indicate different functions of the interior rooms.

They painted all the brick white, added metal roof and overhangs, vertical board cladding, new doors and light fixtures. As seen, a traditional ranch doesn’t have to be a curse. Some folks have ideas that they need to see before pulling the trigger.
I love the simplicity and clean look of the all white exterior and black door. Maple cabinets with a white satin finish and white subway tile backsplashes contrast with honey wood floors and stainless steel appliances. Day light and task lighting are perfectly balanced to make the kitchen bright and welcoming all hours of the day.
Kitchen Remodeling
After months of searching, they found a red brick ranch home on 7 acres that was just what they wanted. I usually post about my house, but for a change I want to show you the exterior makeover of the home of Debbie and Martin who are good friends of Ed and mine. A home exterior makeover doesn’t have to be done all at once and it can be done on a tight budget if you are willing to put in some sweat equity.
The subdued, striped front of this ranch-style house keeps the palette from becoming too bland or boring. A restrained pattern for the front walk (varying-sized pavers turned angles toward one another) mimics the home's forms. You are right, that is a gorgeous renovation and beautiful property! Florida is great but from June-September, it is too hot to keep many/most colorful flowers alive.
